Chandigarh: Pakistan Kabbadi Team was refused visa to participate in the International Kabbadi Tournament being held at Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala). The tournament is being organised to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji.
The Kabbadi enthusiasts were looking forward to the fight of the two archrivals-Indian Kabbadi team and Pak-Kabbadi-teams clash in this International Kabbadi Tournament.
Jaspal Singh Sidhu, an Indo-Pak peace activist said that without the participation of Pakistani Kabbadi team, the International Kabbadi Tournament would lose its sheen. He said that the Pakistan Kabbadi team’s participation was more important this time because the Pakistan government had shown a great gesture by completing the kartarpur corridor well in time to before with the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.
Sources claimed that the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur tried to prevail upon the Indian foreign ministry to grant visa for the Pakistani Kabbadi team members, but it has been all in vain.
Nine teams from Canada, USA, Kenya, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia, are to participate in the tournament.

During the International Kabbadi championship in 2017, the Pakistan team was not granted visa. The Kabbadi matches which started today at Sultanpur Lodhi will conclude at Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur) district, the city from where the Kartarpur corridor originates to go to Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.
The winning team will get a cash prize of Rs 25 (Twenty five) lakh, runners-up Rs 15 (Fifteen) lakh Rs 10 (Ten) lakhs for the team which comes at the third position.
